Our Robot Testing Process

Robots have to work in everyone’s home, but no home is the same. To help ensure that the robot experience is great for everyone, we go through a rigorous testing process for all of our products, even our prototypes. Below are just some of the tests we do with every single robot.

Charging Test

Most robot vacuums can’t line up perfectly with their dock to charge. To prevent this from happening, we did multiple tests of the Coral One docking from different angles to make sure that it charges every single time.

Climbing Test

A big issue with most robots is climbing over multiple surfaces. We made sure that the Coral One Ultra can climb over any surface in your home, including hard wood floors, high-pile rugs, carpet, and more.

Handheld Accessories Test

We need vacuum accessories for the handheld to help us clean everywhere (I.e. a fabric tool for couches and a crevice tool for in-between spaces). However, these accessories are only useful if they can deliver the suction power you need to clean up your messy spots. We tested every scenario with the hardest things to pickup: fine dust, rice, and coffee beans.

HEPA +BioSafe Filter Test

If you have a vacuum with low quality filters, it can actually be very harmful to your health. Low quality filters mean dust, allergens, and breathable particles get kicked into the air, and you breathe that in. To prevent this, we developed a very difficult smoke test. Our filters only pass if it’s able to filter out all the smoke from entering the air in your home.

Hair Tangle Test

Almost every vacuum gets hair stuck in its brushes. This is cumbersome and leads to poorer cleaning quality and difficult maintenance. So, we developed a tangle-free brush and tested it against human and pet hair.

Replacement Brush Test

Replacing the parts in your robot should be easy. So, we developed a pop-off system that lets you pop out brushes easily.

Wall and Corner Follow Test

Cleaning corners is one of the hardest things to do for robot vacuums. That’s why we created a wall follow sensor so that it can get to those edges quickly and clean up all that dust that’s been stuck there for years.

Vacuum Decibel Test

Vacuums are loud because a high power fan is creating a ton of suction to get all that grime off your floors. However, a vacuum that’s too loud adds tons of noise pollution in your home. You can control the volume of your robot through the Coral app. In this video, we’re testing the overall noise the Coral One Ultra makes.
